31 January 2023 – The GPM is proud to welcome Mayor Luísa Salgueiro of Matosinhos (Portugal) as newest member of the GPM. Mayor Salgueiro has been elected mayor of the city of Matosinhos in 2017 and is President of the National Association of Municipaties (ANMP), the first woman to be elected for this position. Between 2005 and 2017, she was a Deputy in the Assembly of the Portuguese Republic, representing the Portuguese Socialist Party (PS) in the Porto constituency. Matosinhos is a municipality in the northern Porto district with around 180,000 inhabitants and covers an area of 62 km.
