With these new signs and tags, the city of Ghent tries to inform pedestrians in a positive way. The coming weeks great weather is being predicted with the risk of people going on the streets in big groups.
The signs share messages such as: ,Make Ghent better at 1.5 meter’, Continue walking: corona doesn’t take a break either’ and ‘In Ghent we do not sit around.’ These sings are placed on 300 benches to remind people to keep a distance once more and the crucial factor of collective action. Mayor Mathias De Clercq of Ghent said: “We want to encourage everyone in a positive way to obey the guidelines. The majority already does so, but we really want all people from Ghent to join this collective mission. If we want to overcome the corona crisis, we should do so together.”
