The Hague, June 2018 – The Global Parliament of Mayors (GPM) has officially become a member of the Global Taskforce and looks forward to a fruitful collaboration. GPM Executive Committee Vice Chair, Mayor Kurz from Mannheim, Germany, says the following about the GPM’s membership:
“I am very happy about the acceptance of the Global Parliament of Mayors (GPM) as the newest member of the Global Taskforce. We are ready to support the common goals within the Global Taskforce to work towards the New Urban Agenda and strengthen the voice of worldwide cities in the global advocacy undertaken by the Taskforce.”
GPM Members understand the potential of city leaders to drive positive change in partnership with national and international counterparts. Our members aim to demonstrate that strong city leadership on global issues can respond to citizen needs at a local level. Therefore, working with the Global Taskforce will allow us to reinforce each other mutually and brings us all one step closer to our common goal. This is what the GPM stands for and will continue to do so; from now on as part of the Global Taskforce together with the other esteemed members.”
