12 October 2023- The GPM is delighted to welcome Mayor Alix Desulme of North Miami, Florida.
Mayor Desulme was first elected into office in 2009, in a city-wide election, making history as the first Black City Clerk of the City of North Miami. He held the distinction as the youngest and the first Haitian American elected City Clerk in the United States of America. In 2015, he was elected to the North Miami City Council.
As Vice Mayor, Mayor Desulme sponsored countless community-enrichment resolutions, with the goal of enhancing the quality of life for North Miami residents, including the Golden Silver Senior Program. The Golden Silver Senior program provides young at heart residents a safe place to socialize, exercise, enjoy outings, and eat nutritional hot meals in a friendly environment, and thus improving their quality of life.
On December 13, 2022, Mayor Desulme was selected to serve as the mayor of North Miami. He has always been, and will continue to be, an advocate for the people.
