14 December 2021 – Mayor Bryan Barnett, mayor of the city of Rochester Hills, Michigan/USA, has been appointed Vice Chair of the Executive Committee of the Global Parliament of Mayors. Mayor Barnett, currently serving his 15th year as mayor of Rochester Hills and former President of the United States Conference of Mayors (USCM),  joined the GPM in 2018.

Mayor Barnett said: “I strongly believe that cities have not only the obligation but also the right to achieve solutions to global issues. As Past President of the USCM and Mayor of Rochester Hills, I have always advocated for mayors and the vital role they play in their communities and throughout the world. I am honored to serve as Vice Chair of the GPM Executive Committee and committed to continue to strongly advocate for mayors as equal partners in shaping global policy.”

Bryan Barnett will join Chair Peter Kurz of Mannheim (Germany), Vice Chair Mayor Rohey Malick Lowe (Banjul, The Gambia) and Treasurer Mayor Ricardo Rio (Braga, Portugal) in the GPM Daily Board for the term of three years.
