22 February, 2022 – The GPM wants to extend its congratulations to the Mayor of Banjul and Vice Chair of the Executive Committee of the Global Parliament of Mayors, Madam Rohey Malick Lowe, who was recently appointed as Vice-President for the West African subregion for the Network of Locally Elected Women of Africa (REFELA). The election took place on the 18th of February 2022, in Ivory Coast, and was contested by all female Mayors from West Africa.
Mayor Lowe has stated: “I am honoured and particularly want to take this opportunity to congratulate all the West African female Mayors because we are all winners. In the same vein I wish to seize this opportunity to congratulate the women and youths of The Gambia for their invaluable and consistent support to me as Mayor of Banjul. This laudable achievement is indeed your making and I wholeheartedly dedicate it to you”.
