The GPM is proud to congratulate its Honorary Member and former Mayor of Cape Town, Patricia de Lille with the appointed position as Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure in President Cyril Ramaphosa’s Cabinet. “I have fought for justice in our country for more than 40 years and have no plans to give up fighting. I pledge to continue the struggle for dignity and fairness for all South Africans”, said Patricia de Lille. Patricia de Lille is leader of the Good Party, a new party that was part of the opposition. “It is time for South Africans to demonstrate that we can rise above party political differences” said Patricia de Lille. As former Chair of the GPM, de Lille has always promoted her believe that mayors and their cities are the drivers of change. Strong mayors drive solutions in their cities in ways that are progressive, fast and more targeted – where mayors often come under fire for their enlightened approach.
