14 April 2021 – The GPM Annual Summit 2021 will take place on 21-23 October 2021 and be hosted by Mayor Leoluca Orlando of Palermo, Italy. For the first time ever, the GPM Summit will be a hybrid event with interactive sessions on-site in Palermo and online for mayors that cannot travel to Palermo.
The GPM Palermo Summit will be focused on the recovery of cities after the pandemic which has shaken systems, traditions, institutions, procedures, and accepted wisdom. Recovery from the pandemic cannot just be ‘back to normal’. The future is now. Many global challenges must be addressed. The burden of recovery, transition, and renewal will be on cities. Cities need to be empowered to act. The Summit will highlight the role of cities as a prerequisite to success in addressing global issues, new forms of city leadership, and multilateral governance.
The international community of mayors, city networks representatives, and experts are welcome to attend the Summit in Palermo to debate the crucial role of cities in the new era.
