17 February, 2022 – The GPM wants to extend its warm welcome to Mayor Carlos Carreiras, from Cascais, Portugal, who recently joined the organization. Carlos Carreira has been the Mayor of the Municipality of Cascais since 2011, having won three elections with an absolute majority.
Mayor Carreira has been a strong advocate for public policies dedicated to the promotion of talent and entrepreneurship. He was been awarded several distinctions, such as the First Class National Defence Medal by the Minister of National Defence, the First Order of the Republic by the Moldavian government, and the National Medal for Merit by the government of Romania. Carlos Carreiras was also awarded the Recognition Medal by AMI – Assistência Médica Internacional, acknowledging his support to the organization.
Cascais is a municipality with a long history that has proudly embraced European ideal and values. Being open and welcoming different cultures, Cascais has proved to be a place of tolerance, solidarity and diversity. Following the motto “it all starts with people”, Cascais has consolidated its community, promoting unity in its diversity.
