The non-profit Welcoming America, and the Global Mayors Task Force on Climate and Migration from C40 Cities and the Mayors Migration Council have signed the CALL TO ACTION: Climate change, cities and forced migration: Advancing knowledge, action and collaboration from the Global Parliament of Mayors.

The call to action seeks to unite mayors to address the local challenges associated with climate displacement, undertaking concrete steps to prepare and adapt to the impact of climate change, working in tandem with national and regional counterparts. It ensures that cities and mayors are heard by national governments, international agencies, and multilateral institutions as they lead and set the agenda on climate and migration.

Through this, fellow city networks, NGOs, and actors in the climate migration area join efforts to work in parallel towards the better positioning of mayors and cities in the international system, to prevent the vulnerability of migrants and displaced people to climate breakdown, while also including these affected communities as active agents of change.
